While John and Judy Hinwood consider Dr. Doug Herron the most passionate Chiropractic speaker in Australia, the story does not end or even begin there.
Doug grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa, a town adjoining Davenport, which is the home of the “Fountain Head”, the Palmer College of Chiropractic (PCC). He and his family attended a local church that also included Palmer students and their families. His mother relates an early experience at age 4 where he could not walk after a fall and Chiropractic helped. As well, other episodes of acute lower back pain by age 15 responded remarkably well to Chiropractic care and a tremendous idea began to grow. Health could be viewed proactively rather than reactively.
After graduating from PCC in 1983, he arrived in Western Australia with his young family on a 3 year “plan” to gain experience and grow as a Chiropractor. He never left and Perth, WA is now “home” but even more opportunities would be ahead. A chronic wrist injury became too painful to remain in full time practice. Being far too young to retire, Doug was in a predicament about what to do.
Following surgical fusion, the wrist pain was gone and part time practice was possible but that was clearly not enough. Coaching with John and Judy at the Centre for Powerful Practices beckoned. Doug underwent a huge learning curve, condensing 12 months of Life Coaching and personal development into 6 months. His passion, successful clinic and business experience, mixed with learning and circumstance would bring him to the stage of mentoring, supporting, and coaching others to create the lives and practices of their dreams.
Doug has served the chiropractic profession through CAA, ASRF and State Registration Board roles. He has served the community through his local church and through chiropractic to a local Indigenous community group. His family and health are served through cycling and ballroom dancing with his wife Deena.
He has 3 adult children, all living and working in Australia.
Combining his love of Chiropractic, communication and service means “The best is yet to come” for Doug and those fortunate enough to share time with him and be mentored by this exceptional chiropractic icon.
