I joined Powerful Practices as a client in 2002, and commenced as a coach in 2012. One of my passions is assisting clients in finding their own truths and what they are passionate about. Through providing them with proven systems and procedures to assist them in practice, and supporting them to identify and live a life of success, health and happiness.
I have been married for 20 years and have two sons aged 17 and 21. My personal passions and interests include keeping fit, personal growth and development, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL.
My journey to understanding the spine and greater health commenced at 7 years of age. I had been a sickly child, suffering from recurrent chest infections, ear infections, and an inability to put on weight.
I was taken to see an elderly gentleman who was a bonesetter. Through his work, the ‘light went on’ immediately in my mind. I felt a surge of energy and power build in my body, and within a short period of time, my health had significantly improved.
I continued to see this bonesetter for quite a few years, and it was during these visits that my curiosity about true health developed. Through guidance, support, mentorship and my own research, I was lead to a career in Chiropractic.
I commenced my Chiropractic studies at P.I.T. (Phillip Institute of Technology, now RMIT University) in Melbourne in 1989, and completed the 5 year course in 1993. 1989 was a significant year for me in another way, as I met and started dating beautiful fellow first year Chiropractic student Bettina Tornatora. We were married at the end of fourth year in Bettina’s home tome of Mildura, Victoria, and completed our final year of the course as a married couple.
Upon Graduation, Bettina and I combined travel with Chiropractic practice. This lead us through a journey that involved doing field work in Adelaide, followed by associateships in Darwin, NorthernTerritory. It was during my time in the NT that I had the incredible opportunity to fly in to some of the remotest parts of Australia. I flew in to both the NT and Western Australia on a monthly basis and spread the Chiropractic message, in conjunction with working in a city practice in Darwin.
We moved to Dubbo (New South Wales) in 1995, buying a long established practice. We spent the next 6 years in Dubbo expanding our practice, and establishing our satellite practices throughout many country towns in the Central West of NSW. It was also during our time there that our sons Sebastian and Xavier were born.
In 2001, we decided to move back to Melbourne to be closer to family. And on Sept 11th, 2001 (yes, that day) we drove back Melbourne, embarking on our next adventure.
We had originally planned to do locum work around Melbourne, however, the events of 11/9 meant that what locum work we had lined up was cancelled as many chose to cancel their travel plans.
We decided to buy a long- established practice in Brunswick West in 2001, which is where we practice to this day.
When I originally commenced coaching with Powerful Practices International in 2002, I was having challenges in growing my practice. I couldn’t work out why, after 8 very successful years in practice, I was hitting a brick wall. The harder I tried, the more frustrating it got. I was initially embarrassed to admit this both to myself, and to my coach.
My coach and mentor helped me discover a self-sabotaging pattern that was causing my practice challenges. By identifying and taking the steps to correct this, I saw my practice literally double in 2 months, and then triple within 6 months. Most importantly to me, I accomplished this without compromising my personal values or integrity, while authentically delivering and communicating my truth in my Chiropractic message.
I continued on, applying the learnings from my Coaching for several years. It was during a Powerful Encounters workshop we attended with our whole team in 2010, that Bettina and I were asked to join the Powerful Practices International team as Coaches and Mentors.
