How the little things in life make life for others so much fun
A few very simple make up days that we have in our clinic, with some of these days being for no particular reason other than just for fun, have increased our practice success outrageously.
CLINIC BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Recently our clinic celebrated our first birthday in the new clinic building. We all had a blast! We had the clinic decorated with balloons, party hats, streamers and happy birthday strips.
We had ample supply of freshly brewed coffee, tea and muffins. Every child was given a party bag that consisted of a fruit popper, natural bag of lollies, chips, fun stickers, Chiro stickers, Chiro balloon and Chiro pencil. EVERY person who walked out of the clinic HAD to have a helium balloon.
The clinic was rocking with activity. We had the clients participating in the chicken dance, the hokey pokey, laughter therapy, snatch and grab and the occasional conga to the adjusting rooms.
A new client that week told one of our CA’s that the reason he came to our clinic was that, “I was told that you always had lots of fun here and, WOW how true that is! “
In our clinic the CA’s are referred to as The Angels, hence they all wear an Angel on their collar. On occasions the CA’s need to remind some clients that they are Angels and pop on their halos and wings. You can imagine some of the comments we get from this.
FRIDAY THE 13TH
Clients are never quite sure what to expect! We often have a couple of witches dressed in black capes, long black wigs, black hats and of course the broom. The CA’s will take some of the clients to the adjusting rooms on the back of the broom! The reception area looks like some dark cave with bats and spiders hanging from the ceiling, spider web behind the CA’s (this feels quite real when you walk into it). We will use only black streamers and black balloons for other decorations.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE WEEK
This year is the first time that we have really had a blast with Chiropractic Care Week. One of our CA’s made up some black overdresses and we stitched glow in the dark skeletons to them. The patients think that this is good until the CA’s get them in the adjusting rooms. Lights out and look out, we have dancing skeletons. We found that a lot of the clients were saying ‘do it again.’ Some of them were still laughing when they left the clinic.
Being Australia ‘s biggest horse racing event, the country stops in mid afternoon on the first Tuesday in November to watch or listen to this national phenomenon. CA’s come dressed up like they are going to the races. DC’s wear a jockey cap (if we are lucky). We have decorations of horses and trophies.
ST PATRICK’S DAY
CA’s wear green clothing along with a green glitter bowler. We supplied lime cordial for those willing to partake. The clinic is decorated with green streamers and balloons and of course leprechauns.
Behind the desk we have some fluffy white tails and some flippy floppy ears on our CA’s. The patients are given some small chocolate eggs. We decorate the clinic with lots of cut-out rabbits and eggs and very pastel coloured balloons and streamers. One of our clients brought us a huge blow-up bunny: he takes pride of place in the corner. Our children’s table has Easter bunny colouring in for the children and the young at heart. Easter tends to be a busy period so we get hopping on.
Once again the clients are never quite sure what to expect. We have had witches and skeletons in the reception area. The whole clinic is decorated with black cats, bats, spiders, carved pumpkins and whatever we can lay our hands on.
This is such an awesome time of year for our clinic. Our DC’s choose a Friday (which is always our busiest day) and donate the takings for this day to the Salvos. The CA’s have the fun task of taking the days takings to the toy shop and purchasing toys for those children in need. We then get to wrap and label these toys in age and sex. We then have our Christmas tree in a corner and have a huge pile of presents under it. We normally combine the handover of these toys with other clinics; the local paper and TV station usually come for this as well.
For the month of December the CA’s wear Christmas shirts and hats. We hand out candy canes. On the children’s table we have Christmas colouring.
DYNAMIC GROWTH CONGRESS (DG)
For the past few years when we have attended DG and the theme of the DG Ball has been costume based. We always get a photo of the night and for our clients we all wear our ball costumes for the following week. The clients are convinced that we don’t do any work at the conferences we attend.
To show our clients that we appreciate and care for them we do some special little things for them continually throughout the year.
Every client is given a birthday greeting with each and every team member hand writing a message. This greeting has a $10 discount on their next adjustment. DVA patients still get a greeting but no discount.
Every day the CA’s go through the local paper looking for any articles on any of our clients. We cut out the articles and send them to the clients in an affirmations card.
We give a thank you for clients referring in new clients – for the 1 st and 2 nd new patient they receive a card with a $5 discount voucher and for the 3 rd patient they are given a complimentary visit.
We have one rule in our clinic that we all have to stick to…LAUGHTER IS THE BEST FORM OF MEDICINE – when a person laughs and has fun the endorphins are up to 3000 times more powerful than heroin.
Having fun creates a buzz and is loads of fun.
