In a developing practice with CA’s who have received little training, the concept of double booking often brings about a mind set that can prevent a practice from growing.
The innate behaviour of an untrained CA is to:
- Book down the left side of the page.
- Schedule one patient every 15 minutes, one after the other.
To Double Book or Not Double Book?
The thought of ‘double booking’ – that is moving to book a second person in each 15 minute time slot, often brings up feelings for a new untrained CA of not allowing enough time for every patient.
Once a CA is experienced to understand that a thorough initial consultation physical and chiropractic examination, x-ray examination and thermal seams set the stage for future corrective care, they can let go of their time restraints around regular office visits.
Once a CA is experienced enough, they will be able to comprehend the time required for:
- A thorough initial consultation with physical and chiropractic examination.
- X-ray examination and ROF follow up.
- Regular scheduled appointments.
This sets the stage for future corrective care and they can then let go of their fear around time restraints.
Once your CA team members understand that a care plan involves a series of adjustment visits, to bring about corrective care over a period of time, they also start to understand the concept of ‘multiple booking’.
- 25% of patients arrive early.
- 25% of patients arrive late.
- 50% of patients arrive on time.
By scheduling, say, 3 regular patient adjustment visits every 15 minutes, you compensate for the varying arrival times of your patients, and you are then usually not left waiting for patients to arrive. Your patient flow becomes smother and your healing consciousness increases greatly.
Your patient volume per 15 minutes is dependent on your personal technique of choice and how proficient you are either alone, or with a CA working beside you.
To increase your patient volume and grow your practice your CA(s) must start to use ‘multiple booking’ and fill your appointment book across the page before booking down the page.
Block booking creates high energy in your practice and success and focuses the mind of your patients.
